Steve Davis says he will only bring in players to improve his team
Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he and his staff will be working tirelessly to find players to improve his Crewe Alexandra squad for next season. The Alex boss is looking forward to working more closely with his first year professionals and will hopefully see one or two emerge as potential first team players, but he would like to bolster his options with some new signings.
The Alex boss will certainly be in the market for another goalkeeper after letting Steve Phillips and Alan Martin (in the January transfer window) leave the club. He will also need a striker after Chuks Aneke and Uche Ikpeazu returned to their parents clubs and AJ leitch-Smith was allowed to leave after years of service.
and that makes it difficult to bring in the exact players we would want. th or 6thSteve told crewealex.net: “I am not sure we have much scope for compiling a list at Crewe. I would think that we would rarely be a player’s first choice anyway because of the wages. We would probably be more like 5
“Saying that we always work as hard as we can at it and we do our best to bring in the best we can. Everyone will be working hard to get some new players in and if we think they will improve us then we will do everything we can to make it happen.
“I will enjoy working with the new young players we have, those stepping up from the Academy and the ones we have as part of the group already. They all have a great attitude and I am sure once they have settled in they will prove to be an exciting bunch. We won’t put too much pressure on them and say they are going to do this and that but if one or two can emerge next season then that would be a real boost.”
