Steve Davis says final performances have given him food for thought

Steve Davis says the performance of the club’s Under-21s against Queens Park Rangers on Wednesday night has given him food for thought as he finalises his squad for the final game of the season against Preston North End.

James Collins’ side lifted the Professional Development League Two Trophy after a wonderful strike from forward Max Clayton gave us a deserved 1-0 win at Loftus Road.

The likes of Clayton, Bradden Inman, George Ray, George Evans and AJ Leitch-Smith all participated in the Final.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “I was a great victory and a deserved victory. I was at Leek on the night watching JJ (John Johnson) but I was kept up to date and watched most of the second half on my phone. I saw most of it apart of the buffering that comes with that!

“It was a great finish from Max (Clayton) and there were some really strong performances. They have all done really well and to only lose two games all season is a terrific achievement from everyone involved.

“Some players have played more games than others. Some of them have only played one or two games but whoever has played has applied themselves. The attitude has been spot on and to win the trophy is great for our Academy.

“I saw James’ interview and I echo those words. It says everything about us. We like to give our own a chance and progress here and people recognise our commitment to Youth Development.”
