Anthony keen to remain in League One after club make a real fight of it in the second half of the season

If Crewe Alexandra are to remain in League One for next season then the form of Anthony Grant, especially in the calendar year would have certainly played a major part in accomplishing that goal. Grant, a summer signing from Stevenage, has certainly been one of our most consistent performances in the second half of the season. So much so that he is a possible contender for the club’s Player-of-the-Year award.

The 26-year-old, who previously worked under Jose Mourinho as a trainee player with Chelsea said: “No-one wants to drop into League Two. We want to be playing in League One again next season and we know that we have to get the points to make sure we are alright.

“We want to stay in this league and then push on next year. We want to do a lot better and anything can happen if you make a good start to the season. Firstly though we have to make sure we get the result we need.

“The lads are going into the game with confidence and we have always had that this season because we have the players here who can produce. We know that if we can score first or remain in the game that he have quality players who can score goals at any moment. We have shown that at times this season, especially away.

The combative midfielder added: “The crowd have really helped us recently. They have been good on the road at Shrewsbury and Bristol and now we need them to get behind us for the final game of the season. “
