Ben Garratt becomes the latest youngster to commit his future
An almost perfect week for the Football Club has been further enhanced with young goalkeeper Ben Garratt signing a new contract to take him through to June 2016. Garratt is the latest Crewe youngster to commit his future to the club and he follows the likes of Billy Waters, Ollie Turton, Jon Guthrie and George Ray by extending his stay at Gresty Road.
The Shrewsbury-born goalkeeper was named as the Breakthrough Player of the Year at the club’s annual awards on Sunday and also came third in the Players’ Player vote. Garratt, 20, made 28 appearances for the club this season after winning the battle for the number one spot ahead of veteran stopper and coach Steve Phillips and the now departed Alan Martin. Garratt kept four clean-sheets, two coming in the decisive run-in as Crewe managed to remain in League One.
