Garratt on extending his deal until the summer of 2016

Ben Garratt says he is happy with everything in regards to his contract extension and says it was always his intention to give himself the security of another season. The Shrewsbury born goalkeeper has signed a deal to take him through to the summer of 2016 and the England youth international is now focussed on holding to the number one shirt.

Ben told Crewe Alex Player: “I wanted to get it sorted before we broke up for summer and now that’s out of the way and I can just look forward to next year now.

“The most important thing was always football. With the situation we were in I just wanted to try and focus on that and obviously it went well Saturday and then I’ve signed it now today.

“I’m very happy with everything. I was here till next summer anyway and now I’ve extended it for another year so I’ve got two years left, so I’m very pleased.

He added: “All the lads that have signed are all around my age really, so it’s nice we’ve all come through together and now we’re all progressing as well.”
