Davis disappointed with the four goals we conceded at London Road
Alex boss Steve Davis says that his team have to get back to becoming hard to beat after conceding four goals at Peterborough at the weekend. Crewe Alexandra were very much in the contest until the impressive Conor Washington eventually sealed the points with a decisive fourth goal with just minutes remaining.
Two splendid goals from Chuks Aneke had kept us very much in it but Davis was disappointed to have conceded the goals we did at London Road.
Ahead of our mid-week clash at Walsall, Steve told crewealex.net: “We will remain positive as there are plenty of points to play for. The Peterborough game has gone now and when I looked back over the DVD there were more positives than I first thought.
“We were a threat and had our spells but we didn’t defend well enough all over the pitch. We have to defend better than that. There has to be that real urgency in defending better and that starts from the front right through to the back.
He added: “That means they have to be better individually and collectively and I was disappointed that we rolled over too easily at times on Saturday. We weren’t poor but we fell short and the message I told the players afterwards is that we have to get back to being harder to beat and stop conceding avoidable goals.”
