Ikpeazu on why he wants to fire Crewe to safety.
On-loan forward Uche Ikpeazu is hoping to put Saturday’s disappointing defeat to Coventry out of the system by getting back on track at Crawley Town this weekend. The Alex were unfortunate to lose the game 2-1 to the Sky Blues and a disappointed Ikpeazu says it is important that the lads pick themselves up quickly.
Ikpeazu’s work ethic against Coventry typified the team’s desire to go on and win the game on Saturday after an own goal put us back on level terms. It just wasn’t to meant be with Callum Wilson scoring a decisive second goal of the goal on 81 minutes.
Uche told Crewe Alex Player: “We worked hard on Saturday and everyone was disappointed not to have won the game. How we didn’t get something is incredible really but that can happen football. Sometimes the better team on the day doesn’t win and it just wasn’t meant to be for us.
“We had some chances and I had some chances. I had one kicked off the line and their goalkeepers had to make some good saves, especially in the second half.
“All we can do is all stick together and get ready for Crawley. We can go again and pick up some points to get out of this.
“It is a new experience for me to be involved in a relegation scrap and I didn’t sleep properly after the defeat but we are looking to next weekend now and have the belief that we can get out it.
“We will keep fighting and will keep believing.”
