Mathias Pogba targets back-to-backs win after a return to form
Mathias Pogba was understandably delighted to be back amongst the goals against Gillingham at the weekend but the former Wrexham man was more pleased that the Alex got back to winning ways after five without a win. Pogba rounded off the scoring at the Priestfield Stadium with a skilfully executed back heal from Uche Ikpeazu’s cross, as Crewe ran out deserving 3-1 winners.
Pogba’s finish was his third goal in 14 appearances since his return from a long-term knee injury and set Crewe up nicely for two home games against Notts County this evening and then Coventry on Saturday.
We were very proud of ourselves to go to Gillingham, play well and win the game. Ahead of the meeting with the Magpies, Pogba told crewealex.net: “We needed those three points that the manager was talking about that all week.
“I was waiting for my goal for a long time but the main thing is the three points. To get the points just when we needed them gives us confidence.
“The manager wants me to get inside the box more. For me it was just a tap-in, the only thing I could do. It finished in the net and I always celebrate my goals with the fans.
Pogs added: “The more games I play Pogba 100% will come back.”
