Club captain successfully returns to training after foot injury

Crewe Alexandra’s club captain Abdul Osman has given boss Steve Davis another boost ahead of this weekend’s home encounter with Oldham Athletic by making a successful return to training following a foot injury.

The combative midfielder who was chosen as captain in the summer to replace the departing Luke Murphy has missed the last four games after suffering a foot injury but the former Northampton Town man competitor is likely to declare himself fit and available for selection this weekend. Osman was not risked for the mid-week trip to Walsall. George Evans is now back from his own foot injury and Liam Nolan an able deputy from the bench.

Crewe’s recent injury problems have certainly improved of late with Evans returning and the likes of George Ray, AJ Leitch-Smith, Ollie Turton and Uche Ikpeazu all featuring for the club’s Under-21s against Leeds United on Monday night.

Only Max Clayton and Ryan Colclough remain long-term absentees after having operations for ankle and hernia problems.
