Vadaine Oliver out of Gillingham trip

Crewe Alexandra are unlikely to be without centre-forward Vadaine Oliver for this weekend’s trip to Gillingham. The former Lincoln City forward has been suffering with a very serious bout of tonsillitis and has had to attend hospital to have fluid drained from his throat.

Oliver has not trained this week following his late introduction as a substitute against Oldham Athletic at the weekend. Oliver has scored twice this season against Peterborough and more recently Swindon.

Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “Vadaine has been ill. He has tonsillitis and that is something he has suffered with in the past. He has been in hospital to have the fluid drained from his throat and that is serious.

“We are concerned for him and he has been off for a couple of days, so we wish him a speedy recovery.”
