Boss happy with his two unless injury occurs
Any move for a new goalkeeper on loan has been put on hold for now. Manager Steve Davis says he will not to looking to make any last minute moves before the ultimate loan deadline next Thursday and although he can bring in an emergency goalkeeper afterwards he would only do so if his current number one Ben Garratt or Steve Phillips are injured.
Crewe have been linked with a possible return for the Fulham goalkeeper Neil
Etheridge, who unfortunately had two previous loan spells ended prematurely due to a thigh injury.
Davis will keep faith with his young England Youth goalkeeper Ben Garratt, with the experienced Phillips an able deputy.
Steve admitted to crewealex.net: “Ben has done really well for us, he has been excellent. He will make a few mistakes along the way because he is still very young and inexperienced at this level but he has made great strides this year.
“Ben has been solid and we can loan in another goalkeeper after the deadline if Ben or Steve were to get injured. That gives us a safeguard and we have two reliable goalkeepers.”
