On-loan Watford starlet close to return to training
The on-loan striker Uche Ikpeazu is free of injury and is now playing catch up with his fitness. The Watford youngster, who recently turned 19, has not featured for the club seeing rolling his ankle on his senior debut against Bradford City on November 2nd. Ikpeazu instantly make an impact when scoring twice in a 3-3 draw before he had to be withdrawn just after the hour mark after being fatigued and rolling his ankle in the first half.
The former Reading Academy graduate has been struggling to train since but now free from his ankle problem and dead leg, the powerful forward could resume full training soon and declare himself available for selection. It would be a welcome boost to have the talented striker back for the crucial run-in.
Steve Davis told crewealex.net: “Uche is very close to training with us again. His ankle and dead leg are both fine now. It is just a question of him working on his overall fitness.
“We are on top of him to make sure that he comes back sharper than when he first arrived here on loan. He had not played too many games this season and he was playing catch-up.
“He has been training twice a day with fitness coach Andy Franks and we are helping him to get fit. He is a determined lad and obviously has a talent. We have seen what he can do for us at Bradford and the only problem we have had is getting him on the pitch.
Steve added: “He is making steady progress and it would be a bonus to have him back sooner rather than later because he is good enough to do well in this league.”
