Young full-back Jon Guthrie delighted to sign new Alex deal
Jon Guthrie admitted his “delight” after securing a new deal with Crewe Alexandra, putting pen-to-paper on a contract until June 2015, with the club’s option for a further year.
The 21-year-old has impressed this season after breaking into the first team and starting regularly since lining-up in the 3-0 mauling of Sheffield United at Gresty Road in February.
Guthrie didn’t wait long to clinch his deal after only recently being offered the terms and he admitted that he couldn’t wait to get the deal done.
“I’m delighted. Now I can just fully focus on making sure we’re still in this league next year, so I’m really happy with it and that it’s done.
“It’s nice to get it over and done with; it’s just good that I can focus on my football. It’s always good to get it sorted before the end of the season so I don’t have to worry about it as much, I’m really pleased with it.
“There was no hesitancy at all to sign, this is the right club for me. They plucked me for non-league football so I owe it to them, and I love it here anyway so there would be no reason to leave.”
