Boss on important part home fans will pay in the run-in

. thSteve Davis is hoping his side can get back to winning ways at home and secure back-to-back wins with three points against Notts County this evening. The Railwaymen have drawn their last two home games 1-1 against Oldham and Swindon and before that were well beaten by Brentford back on February 15

Crewe’s last win at Gresty Road came in an emphatic 3-0 win over Sheffield United on the first day of February and Davis is now looking for his side to build on Saturday’s success at Gillingham.

February. ndAt the weekend, two more goals from the in-form Chuks Aneke and a sublime finish from Mathias Pogba gave Crewe their first away win since the derby game at Port Vale on 22

Ahead of tonight’s encounter against the Magpies, Steve told crewealex.net: “We need to enjoy winning at home and playing in front of our supporters again.

“We know how important these two home games against Notts County and Coventry could be and the fans have an important role to play. We need them getting behind the lads to help with our performance.

“We know we didn’t give them much to shout about against Oldham in our last home game, but when things aren't going well is when you need the fans the most.

The boss added: “There will always be good spells and poor spells in all the games and the players will make mistakes. All I can ask is that they stay with them, stay with the players, we will need them tonight and on Saturday. Be patient and support them, that's what we need. Any booing certainly doesn't help their performances. “
