Ellis Declared Fit

Defender given all-clear after foot scare

Defender Mark Ellis is expected to shake off a foot injury to face Notts County tomorrow evening. The centre-half took a hefty whack on his foot as he attempted to reach a corner at Gillingham at the weekend but yesterday’s recovery day and a session today has had its benefits.

Ellis is expected to partner Adam Dugdale in the heart of the Crewe defence again following the news that Harry Davis has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to a knee injury.

Midfielder Anthony Grant is suspended for the visit of Shaun Derry’s side following his late dismissal in the club’s 3-1 win over Gillingham. Abdul Osman is likely to deputise in central midfield alongside George Evans.

Crewe’s long-term absentees Max Clayton (ankle) and Ryan Colclough (hernia) are ruled out.

Steve told crewealex.net: “Mark took a knock on his foot. I think Uche got in his way a bit at a corner but he managed to get through the game and I’m sure he will be fine.

“Mark will be okay and we knew that Duggy would be fit and when we needed him.

“Abdul has that experience and know-how to handle the situation and this is another chance for him with Granty suspended.”
