Davis Hints At Changes

Alex boss prepared to change side for trip to Gills

Crewe boss Steve Davis says more of his side must reach their potential if the club are going to retain their League One status this season.

Davis was left bitterly disappointed with a below par performance in the 1-1 draw with Oldham on Saturday and says his side are fully aware that they must up their game.

The Alex manager felt only a handful of his players reached their potential in the draw and has hinted that he may make changes for the trip to Gillingham next weekend.

Speaking after the game, Steve told crewealex.net: “We know we have to do better than we did against Oldham. I said to the lads after the game that we need to face up to the reality of where we are in the league and what we have to do. There wasn’t enough urgency in our performance and that needs to be there.

“On Saturday we probably had about four players who reached their potential and we can’t afford to be carrying seven players and expect to win a game.  So actually getting a point with so many players not reaching their potential was actually a good result.

“I have tried to keep a settled team over the last few weeks, but we can’t keep going with players that aren’t performing. “
