Crewe Hoping For More Gills Success

21 March 2014

Alex aiming for fourth successive win at the Priestfield Stadium

Steve Davis is hoping his Crewe Alexandra side can silence the Priestfield Stadium tomorrow and come away with another three points to help in our quest to remain in League One. Crewe have won on their last three visits to Kent but have struggled to defeat the Gills at Gresty Road in our last four encounters! Gillingham won 3-0 at the Alexandra Stadium earlier in the season and Davis is hoping to avoid a league double tomorrow.

Before embarking on the trip to Kent, Steve told the club’s official web-site: “The players are well aware of how big these remaining nine games are. We didn’t play well last week and they are determined to improve on that performance because they know they let themselves down. That is why the point against Oldham could prove crucial come the end of the season.

“We want to put on a better display down there. I have heard that their pitch is in very good condition, one of the best in the division, so hopefully we can play some possession football and cause them some problems in the final third.

“We know that their crowd are always behind them and are noisy, especially when they are on top, so we want to keep them as quiet as we can by playing well. Hopefully we can grab that momentum as the away team and silence their crowd.

“We did that when we played at Coventry in front of 31,000 or at port Vale when there is a very different type of atmosphere so the players have the experience of doing it. We want to play an open game and bring back the points.”
