Crewe Draw With Leeds Under 21s

10 March 2014

Ikpeazu on target in entertaining draw

A penalty from Uche Ikpeazu helped Crewe obtain a 2-2 draw with Leeds United's Under-21s at Gresty Road. Ikpeazu won and converted the spot-kick after a good moved involving Kelvin Mellor and Billy Waters, fresh from his senior debut at Peterborough at the weekend. Ikpeazu played 45 minutes with the likes of Waters and the fit-again Ollie Turton, George Ray and AJ Leitch-Smith getting  a full 90 minutes under their belt.

There was also game time for Liam Nolan, after his recent appearance for the Northern Ireland Under-21 side.

Crewe twice let the lead slip with a trialist scoring a stunning goal to put us 2-1 ahead only for the visitors to deservedly equalise before the break.

Crewe goalkeeper Robbie Johnson made two fantastic saves to keep us in the game and after finishing strongly, Crewe had late chances through substitute George Cooper and Turton to have snatched the win in the final 20 minutes.
