Chuks Has Been Exceptional

Steve praises Aneke's work ethic

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis has praised the work ethic of Chuks Aneke as his extra training has resulted in scoring 11 goals in his last 17 matches since late November. Aneke’s goals and performances have certainly caught the eye and the on-loan Arsenal starlet will be one of the favourites for the Player-of-the-Year award come May.

Davis has been delighted that Aneke has continued to stay behind after training to work on his game, especially his finishing and he knows that his deep-lying centre-forward will continue to be important in the run-in

Steve told crewalex.net: “We have had a few too many blanks this season but from Christmas onwards we have looked more dangerous and Chuks has been the main reason for that. We could do with others chipping in with a few goals because we can’t solely rely on Chuks all the time.

“We are getting chances and if we can convert a few more and keep a few more clean-sheets then that would make a massive difference to our league position.

“Chuks has worked really hard and I am pleased to see him getting the rewards because of that. He is one who stays after training and works on his finishing with James (Collins) and myself.

“Chuks is always out there. Vadaine and Pogs come back occasionally as well but Chuks really pushes himself and I am pleased that he is getting the reward for that desire.

Steve added: “He wants to improve as a player and has always been a pleasure to work with. His response to the work has been exceptional and it feels as though he is one of our own. He has been a major player for us.”
