Steve says players have quickly got over heartache at Walsall

Steve Davis says the Crewe Alexandra dressing room remains extremely positive going into the final 10 games of the season. The Alex boss says that they have quickly got over the disappointment of conceding that last minute equaliser at Walsall on Tuesday evening and know their destiny remains in their own hands with three home games out of the next four coming at home.

Davis was understandably disappointed that the Railwaymen couldn’t quite see out the result at the Banks’s Stadium, but says there were a lot of positives to take from the performance.

Ahead of this weekend’s home clash with Oldham, Steve told crewealex.net: “We were all disappointed not to have seen out the final five minutes at Walsall. I was disappointed that we showed signs of fatigue towards the end and didn’t retain possession as well as we should have done.

“There were still plenty of positives to take from the game and they have got over it pretty quickly. We have gone through the end of the game with them and what we could do differently if that situation was to arise again.

“We were a bit anxious in the closing stages but this is a really positive camp. They are looking forward to the challenge and so I am. There are ten games left and enough points there to make sure we will be all right.

“The lads are confident and are still going into every game believing they will win. That is what I want from them. I want them to go out and express themselves and work hard, because if they do then we will get enough points.

He added: “We know what is required and the place is upbeat. I’m positive, everyone is positive and that rubs off on everyone else.”
