Club delighted as young Welshman commits his future to the club for next three years

Callum Saunders has become the latest Crewe Alexandra scholar to sign his first professional contract with the club. The Wales Youth International has recently returned from the UEFA Under-19 European Championship in Portugal, where he scored in a 3-0 win over Greece, to sign his pro-contract with the club.

The 18-year-old striker has been a prolific goal scorer throughout his time with us and continued that this year in the Academy Under-18 side, during our run in the FA Youth Cup and when he made that step up for the Under-21s.

The Istanbul-born forward scored a memorable four goals for the Under-18s in a 5-1 victory over Barnsley last season and scored seven goals in the FA Youth Cup before Crewe were unfortunate to be knocked out on penalties to Reading. He also featured for the club’s Under-21s as they won the Professional Development League Two trophy with a 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers.

Saunders joins his fellow team-mates James Jones, Callum Pritchard-Ellis, James Baillie, Perry Ng, Fraser Murdoch and George Cooper in committing their futures to the club.

Crewe Alexandra are delighted that all the young boys have now committed their futures to the club and we wish them all the very best in the next stage of their development.
