Steve Davis eager to see how England's young lions do in Brazil

Steve Davis is hoping that England’s young players can capture the imagination at the forthcoming World Cup Finals.

Roy Hodgson has named a clutch of young players in his squad for Brazil and the Crewe Alexandra boss says that their youth and ability to play with no fear may result in them surprising a few on the world stage.

Davis told crewealex.net: “I love the World Cup and it is always good to watch the best teams playing. It will be good to watch the likes of Spain, Germany, Brazil and Argentina. They have some great players.

“I am genuinely excited by the young players Roy has selected in his squad. They are exciting young players and because they are relatively unknown they may surprise a few. I am glad that Roy has given them a chance on the back of them having a great season with their clubs.

“They have followed the Germans route after they picked a number of young players from their Under-21 side.

“I think it will be a good World Cup and I look forward to seeing if our young players can produce it when it matters.”
