Steve Davis says club are not ruling out bringing in more experience
Steve Davis admits that he would like to add some more experience to his young squad but says that he may be priced out of the targets he would truly want. The Alex boss will continue to place his faith in the club’s emerging youngsters and the new crop of young blood he has secured on professional contracts but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t sign a really experienced player if one was available at the right price.
Although the average age of his group has been reduced, Davis still has a group of young players who have played more than 100 games already.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “I have always said that we do the best we can to bring in the best we can. That doesn’t change and he have a list of targets we would like.
“Some of them won’t come off because of the salary budget he have here. When it comes to bringing in experienced players they do cost more. We have players we would love to sign but they sometimes don’t come off because of their demands or those of the agents. It can be difficult.
“We lost out on some last summer and they didn’t come off but when that happens, you just have to move onto the next one.
He added: “We will do the best we can for the money we can afford because it is important to have that structure in place. I am confident that we get three or four in who will improve us.”
