Steve Davis looking forward to going back to Oakwell
Davis spent seven seasons at Oakwell and helped the club reach the Premier League in 1997 but injury prevented him from making an appearance in the top flight before making a permanent switch to Oxford United in 1998. Steve Davis would have preferred a home draw and a decent gate at the Alexandra Stadium in the first round of the Capital One Cup, but he has been handed a trip to one of his second homes with an away tie at his former club Barnsley.

thCrewe will travel to face Danny Wilson’s Tykes on Tuesday 12
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “It is always exciting when the fixtures come out and as we were not seeded for the Capital One Cup there were some really attractive Championship sides in there.
“We would have preferred to have been at home for our supporters but we have a decent draw. Danny will have a younger Barnsley side and they will be looking to do well after being relegated last season.
“We want to make a good start to the season and this will be a good marker for us. Of course, from a personal of view it will be nice to go back to Barnsley. I had some great times there and know Danny well, so it will be great to see a few people I know. It is one to look forward to.”
