Former Crewe Alexandra loan starlet Chuks Aneke will be gracing European soil this season after opting to sign for Belgium Pro League side SV Zulte Waregem, and Coach James Collins couldn’t be happier for the front man.

After two successful season-long loans at the Alexandra Stadium from Arsenal, Chuks is now set for his stint in the Belgian top-flight - and the Europa League - and Collins has heaped praise on the striker’s magnificent attitude and work rate.

Collins told crewealex.net: “He’s a super lad and I wish him really well, you really want players like him to do well. I’m not sure why he’s made his decision to go abroad, there will be good reasons for it I think, he certainly isn’t after the money I wouldn’t have thought. 

“He was super when he was here, even more so from a coaching side. I’ve never known a player like him who wanted to work as hard as he wanted to work. Every day he would ask to do extra training to the point of even on Christmas day he was asking me to put on extra work for him.

“Hopefully he’ll go there and improve, develop and enhance his career but I’m sure he’ll be back in England at some point and hopefully as a better player playing at a good level.”
