Boss Targets Three

Steve Davis on the look out for three out-field players this summer

Steve Davis says he will target three outfield players this summer to help improve his squad. The Alex boss is looking for more quality in the final third and will consider both permanent and loan moves to give himself more options.

The Alex boss has been chasing a winger and forward for a while but admits that much will still depend if Byron Moore and Max Clayton re-sign for the club this summer. Both have been made substantial offers to tempt them to stay on. Davis has reiterated his desire for the two Academy graduates to continue their development with us.

Davis, who is also making good progress in regards to bringing in another goalkeeper, told crewealex.net: “We have signed a number of young players from our Academy and one or two of them may surprise us next season. We are not expecting them to come through straight away but are excited by their potential.

“I need to replace some of the lads we have let go, not all of them. We can replace some from within and we have a decent sized squad already. If I can find three more quality players to help us then that would be a real plus.

“There won’t be a mass influx of new players coming into the club but we are looking for three more quality players. We need another forward now that Chuks and Uche have returned to their clubs and AJ (Leitch-Smith) has moved on. Much will depend on if Max and Byron sign again.

“I would look to bring in another quality winger if one becomes available and another midfielder is a possibility.”
