Steve on Atkinson Signing

22 July 2014

Steve Davis pleased to add attack minded midfielder to his options

Steve Davis is delighted to have secured his second signing of the summer after the attack-minded midfield player Chris Atkinson agreed to join the club. The 22-year-old has signed a two-year deal and will compete for a midfield role alongside the likes of Liam Nolan, Anthony Grant and Ollie Turton.

Atkinson was released by Huddersfield in the summer after finding it difficult to hold down a regular place in the starting eleven. The Halifax-born midfielder has gone out and gained invaluable experience though on loan with the likes of Chesterfield and Tranmere Rovers.

Before leaving for tonight’s friendly with Macclesfield Town, Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “We are delighted that Chris has agreed to join us. It happened fairly quickly today and he will join us for the game this evening.

“Chris has impressed on trial with us and the fans got a glimpse of what he can do at Chester on Saturday. He is a ball playing midfielder who likes to get on the ball and pass it. He has a great energy and will get around the pitch for us.

“He loves to get forward and join in with the forward players and I’m sure he will be looking to contribute some goals for us.”
