Matt Tootle and Vadaine Oliver expected to train this week
Club captain Matt Tootle wanted to feature against Nantwich Town on Sunday but wasn’t risked in Crewe’s 4-1 win. Tootle has been struggling with a sore ankle after going over it in training. Tootle also missed Friday’s 4-0 win over Norton but he is fully expected to feature against Leek or Chester this week.
Centre-half George Ray missed the trip to the Weaver Stadium after complaining of a sore groin in the aftermath of the Norton match. Vadaine Oliver (ankle) is always expected to return to training this week ahead of the club's friendly double header.
Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “Toots wanted to play at Nantwich but we didn’t want to risk him.
“He will get his game time this week because he will want to play. His fitness is fine. I don’t ever worry about Matt’s fitness levels.
“He will play at either Leek or Chester.”
