Davis: "Looking Forward To It Now"

Alex boss looking forward to friendly double header

Crewe Alexandra kick off their pre-season campaign with a double header against Norton United (Friday) and Nantwich Town (Sunday) and manager Steve Davis is already looking forward to seeing his squad compete for places.

Davis admits that the pre-season games have come around quickly and with the World Cup on throughout the summer, it is like football has never been away!

Talking ahead of our meeting with two local non-league sides over the next few days, Davis told crewealex.net: “If I’m honest the games have come around relatively quickly but the players have been in for a few weeks now anyway and with the World Cup on there has been no a break from the football.

“Saying that I’ve enjoyed the World Cup and seeing how other teams are playing. It has been a very attacking World Cup and that has made it entertaining.

“We have worked closely as a team this summer with Andy (Franks) and Barry (Beasley) taking care of the conditioning and fitness of the players. Rob Sharp has been working closely with the injured players such as Harry (Davis) and Ryan (Colclough).

“We have planned the six weeks of pre-season and there is still a lot of work to do. As a team we have worked hard to make sure we get the best out of the group.”
