Steve pleased with early pre-season signs

Steve Davis has been pleased with the signs shown by the fluency of his three man midfield in pre-season. Of course, it is still only pre-season but the rotation of Anthony Grant and youngsters Liam Nolan and Oliver Turton has been impressive in our first two warm up matches. The midfield trio have pressurized the opposition, got on the ball and Nolan has constantly been getting the ball off the back line to start moves.

The football has been bright and Anthony Grant reflected his attacking prowess with a well taken goal at Norton United when he followed up his own excellent pass into Brad Inman to net from close range.

Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “I have enjoyed seeing the movement and rotation of the three midfield players. They are trying to build up the play and the movement has been good. They have rotated well and have offered something both in attack and in defence.

“There has been some good evidence of what we are looking from them. They will only get better once we do more work on it but the signs have been good in training and in the games.

“I want them to be bold and get on the ball and to take the ball from the back players and play through midfield. You are going to get some mistakes and some misplaced passes when you play bravely but we want them to keep doing it.

“There is still a lot of work to do but we have been encouraged with the way we have played in the first half of both games.”
