Released winger has the ability to play in the league again
Steve Davis believes that our former winger Michael West has the potential to play in the Football League again in the future.
The club released West from his contract last week after the 22-year-old struggled to make the sort of impact he would have wanted after signing from Ebbsfleet United in the summer of 2012. The Maidstone-born midfielder has subsequently re-joined his former club.
West’s league starts for Crewe Alexandra was restricted to just 10 appearances and he spent time on loan at Hereford United earlier in the season.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Michael didn’t progress as well as we'd have hoped. There is a level every player has to reach and he just fell a little bit short in the end.
“He has talent but he just needs to work on one or two things that are missing from his game. He needs to be playing regular football again and he is young enough to come again.
“He is young enough to improve and perhaps after a few years and he gains more experience he could be back in the League one day. He is a great lad to work with. He was good to have around and the players liked him and he always worked hard
“We all wish him well.”
