Strange Days In Football

Boss says it will be strange to see Hitch lining up for Millers tomorrow...

Our former loanee striker Tom Hitchcock could well face us tomorrow after going straight into the Rotherham United squad for the clash at the New York Stadium.

Hitchcock, who scored three goals in six games during his loan spell with the Railwaymen has joined tomorrow’s opponents on an initial one-month loan deal.

Steve Davis says that Hitchcock’s good form for us over the festive period could well have alerted interest from other parties.

“Hitch did well for us and scored some important goals for us. When that happens it can alert other clubs and I am sure Steve (Evans) knew all about him anyway, ‘says the Alex boss.

“It will certainly be interesting to meet up again tomorrow but that is football and I know he thoroughly enjoyed his time with us. We tried to keep him but that is the way it goes sometimes.

He added: “He doesn’t belong to us and QPR made their decision, which is fine. We respect their decision and now we will look at our own and we haven’t ruled out getting someone else in. We had a list of players we were interested in at the time we went in for Tom, so we will re-visit that and look to who may be available.”
