Steve Set For Stevenage Test

28 January 2014

Manager prepares for tough test at the Lamex Stadium

Steve Davis has described our previous meeting against Stevenage this season as ‘one of the worst performances of my time at Crewe’. The Alex never got going at Gresty Road back in October and were trailing 3-0 by the 20-minute mark. It was an abject display by the Railwaymen that acted as a real turning point of our season. Steve believes that we couldn’t get much lower than that result and performance on that night.

Crewe have vastly improved since that 3-0 defeat and we will be looking to bounce back from our disappointing 1-0 defeat to Tranmere on Saturday.

Ahead of this evening’s trip to the Lamex Stadium, Steve told crewealex.net: “Graham (Westley) has always built competitive teams and we know they will be organised and difficult to beat.

“Graham installs in his players that belief that they are never beaten. They are at home and will be looking for the three points as much as we are.

“When we played Stevenage earlier in the season, it was definitely one of our worst performances of the season. In fact it was one of the worst displays since I took over.

“It was one those games that provided a realisation that we needed to look at everything to turn things around. We have managed to do that over the last seven or eight games. We have got to play our football and hope our quality and ability shines through. “
