Boss says club still in touch over Mesca and Hitchcock
Steve Davis says he will revisit the possibility of re-signing Tom Hitchcock and Mesca on loan but much will depend on their parent clubs. The forward players have certainly helped the club enjoy a recent mini-revival over the festive period.
Hitchcock has netted three goals in six matches, whilst winger Mesca scored a crucial winner against Carlisle United on New Years’ Day. Both players have now returned to their clubs to resume training, but the Crewe Alexandra boss has not ruled out bringing them back during the window.
“Both Mesca and Tom have returned to their clubs now, but I’m sure we speak to their clubs again concerning their availability, ‘says Steve.
“At the moment the discussions are on-going as we assess our options. Nothing has been sorted yet. I spoke to them and thanked them for their contribution and that we would keep in touch. That is how we left it and we’ll have to see.
“With all signings, you have to weigh up what is best for the Football Club. Tom came in and scored and created goals and that is what we needed. He has done very well for us.
Steve added: “On Mesca, he did well for us as well and it was great for him to score his first goal for us and seal that win over Carlisle. There was an agreement with Fulham concerning Mesca and that is something we would have to look at going forward. “
