Crewe go out of Cheshire Cup to Northwich on penalties

Crewe Alexandra suffered a penalty shootout defeat as the Alex were knocked out of the Cheshire Senior Cup by Northwich Victoria this evening.

On a wet night in Flixton, Victoria's present home,  the game had ended 1-1 after normal time.  The Alex fell behind just after the break through a Danny Boyle strike but a James Jones free-kick deflected in to bring the Alex level.

The game went in to extra-time and after 30 additional minutes in to penalties which proved to be something of a disaster for the Alex.

Lee Molyneux, Thierry Audel, Jon Guthrie and Liam Nolan all missed for the Alex, and despite the Victoria missing a penalty and Alan Martin saving a spot-kick Northwich ran-out 2-0 winners.
