Ray and Evans both off as Crewe go down 3-2
Crewe Alexandra suffered a late defeat in their U21 game at Huddersfield Town this afternoon. A late penalty saw the Terriers run-out 3-2 winners after a pulsating game in Yorkshire that saw the Alex finish with nine men.
George Evans and George Ray both saw red for the Alex who lead the game 2-1 going in to the break after goals from new signing Uche Ikpeazu and Fraser Murdoch.
But former Alex loanee Harry Bunn levelled the game up soon after the break before Evans was shown a straight red for midway through the second-half.
Just as though it looked like the Alex would hold on to a creditable draw, Ray conceded a late penalty for which he was dismissed and the Alex were cruelly denied a point.
