Steve looks forward to first ever visit to Rotherham's new stadium
Steve Davis is looking forward to his first ever trip to Rotherham’s New York Stadium and meeting up with old pal Steve Evans. Davis has always stated that the two coaching teams have always got on stemming from Evans’ previous time with Crawley and although Evans swopped in to sign our loan target Tom Hitchcock from under our nose, the Alex boss knows it is just how football works and is sure to share a chat with the Rotherham coaching staff tomorrow afternoon.
Ahead of our first ever visit to Rotherham’s impressive stadium, Steve said: “I have always got on fine with Steve and his staff. We have never had a problem and we always talk before and after the game. He is a passionate man when the game is on but so I am.
“He has done very well at Rotherham and did likewise at Crawley. They are currently in the play-of positions and I’m sure Steve will be looking to stay there at the very least. He has had investment and they have some very good players but so do we.
“We can take confidence from the fact that we should have beaten them on the opening day of the season because we were 3-1 up going into the dying minutes. We were in a great position and should have gone on to win. We have to learn from that.
“Of course, the two teams would have changed dramatically and we have been able to add one or two on loan as well. It will be a challenging and tough game but we are in some good form and are looking forward to it.
He added: “I have never been to their new stadium, so I am looking forward to that. I am told I very impressive and I am sure they will want it to be a fortress going forward. It takes time for any club to discover that soul inside a new stadium but they have a proper home now and a base from which to move the club forward.”
