Midfield Decision To Make

Boss has to make a tough choice over Grant or Evans

Crewe boss Steve Davis admits he has a big decision to make when it comes to his central midfield positions for the trip to Rotherham United tomorrow. The on-loan Manchester City youngster George Evans is back from suspension after collecting five yellow cards before the cut-off point in 2013, but his replacement against Carlisle United Anthony Grant produced one of his best performances in a Crewe shirt.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “I’ve spoken to George about his bookings, especially the ones he picks up early in games because it means he is on eggshells for over an hour.

“We have been pleased with George, he is improving all the time and his attitude and work rate has shone through. There is still a lot more to come from him. He is still young and learning all the time.

“I don’t think we have even seen the very best of him but as time goes on we will see his true ability in games.

He added: “I have a decision to make because Anthony was back to his best against Carlisle. He has certainly staked his claim and it is something we will have to consider because you know with Anthony he will give his all.”
