May Rest One Or Two

Strikers may be set for first start of the season at Stevenage

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that his strikers Mathias Pogba and the on-loan Uche Ikpeazu are nearing full fitness after being used sparingly in recent weeks. Ikpeazu has arrived on loan from Watford until the end of the season while Pogba has recently returned from a long-term knee injury. Both came on as late substitutes against Tranmere Rovers on Saturday.

Both strikers could be in contention to start for the first time at Stevenage tomorrow, as Davis may look to freshen up his team.

Ahead of the club’s trip to Stevenage, Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We have a lot of games coming up and the pitches are getting heavier. It may be that one or two need a rest and we have players who can come in. I will assess it today and see how they look.

He added: “It is just a question of match fitness with Uche and Mathias and that is why we have been using them sparingly at the moment. We have a lot of games coming up and we could use them.”
