Davis targets Stevenage points to erase Tranmere disappointment

Steve Davis is looking for his Crewe side to put Saturday’s disappointing 1-0 defeat behind them as quickly as possible with a positive result at Stevenage tomorrow. The Alex travel to the Lamex Stadium for another encounter against a side in-and-around us at the bottom of League One with Davis hoping his side can re-capture the form that has recently defeated MK Dons and Carlisle and taken the likes of Rotherham and Wolves to the very limit.

Steve was bitterly disappointed with Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Tranmere Rovers, especially with the first 45 minutes at Prenton Park and he wants his team to get back to tightening up and looking more of a threat in attack. The best way to bounce back from that narrow loss would be a positive away day at Stevenage.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We have managed to score in five consecutive games prior to the Tranmere game and if we can repeat that sort of run again and score in the next five and tighten up at the back then we would collect some more points.

and if we had managed to follow that up with a win at Stevenage then we would have been in mid-table. th“There are a lot of games to go but the players have to quickly realise that we are in a relegation fight and every game and every point is going to be important. If we had won on Saturday, we could have been up to 17

“They are ifs and buts and we have got to do ourselves by getting those points as quickly as possible. It can change around very quickly and we know how important those wins are going to be, especially against those sides who are in-and-around us in the table.”
