Leitch-Smith gets himself going to seal the points
Steve Davis admitted that he nearly took off last night’s goalscorer AJ Leitch-Smith at the half-time interval. The Crewe-born striker worked his socks off for the cause and deservedly scored his first goal since September to secure a 2-0 win over the MK Dons, but the Boss had wanted more from him in that first period.
Leitch-Smith got himself going and received a standing ovation from the Alex supporters when he was substituted late on for Mathias Pogba.
Following last night’s victory, Steve Davis said to the club’s official web-site: “If I’m honest I considered taking AJ off at half-time and I told him at the break that he needed to get himself going and to his credit he did.
“He worked very hard for us in the second half and got his chance. He didn’t show any lack of confidence with his finish. He finished it smartly and I was delighted for him. Everyone was delighted for him because he is one our own and we want him to do well.
“Hopefully now that goal will increase his confidence and be the catalyst for him to go on and score some more.”
