Midfielder George Evans says Alex have to bounce back after disappointing loss at Tranmere

The club’s on-loan midfielder George Evans is hoping that Crewe Alexandra can quickly get over last weekend’s disappointing defeat to Tranmere Rovers. The Alex were beaten 1-0 at Prenton Park after switching off at a corner and Evans says the players are determined to get back on track when Nigel Clough’s Sheffield United roll into South Cheshire on Saturday.

Both sides had their mid-week fixtures cancelled due to unplayable pitches and Evans, 18, is expecting another tough encounter against the Blades.

George told crewealex.net: “The lads were disappointed to lose at Tranmere because there wasn’t a lot in the game. We gave away a poor goal and couldn’t get one back. We had a lot of the ball in the second half and we deserved something from the game but it wasn’t to be.

“It was disappointing because we didn’t think we deserved to lose the game, but we have got to quickly get over it. We didn’t have that chance to do that after the Stevenage game was called off but that means we have another home game and if we can play well then we can a get result.

“It will be another tough game against a team that is and around us at the bottom of the league and that only makes it even more important.”
