Crewe pursue other goalkeeper targets after Fulham keeper suffers slight recurrence
Crewe Alexandra may have to look elsewhere for another loanee goalkeeper after primary target Neil Etheridge suffered a recurrence of his thigh injury.
The Fulham goalkeeper has tweaked the problem muscle and it forced him to miss last night’s FA Cup tie against Fulham. He had been deputising for the current number David Stockdale as the Dutch International Maarten Skekelenburg is also out injured.
Steve Davis hinted yesterday that if there was any further delay in trying to re-signing Etheridge, he would have to revisit the loan market for a possible goalkeeper.
The Crewe boss wants a more experienced goalkeeper to assist his young England goalkeeper Ben Garratt.
