Boss Not Happy About Red Cards

Steve unhappy with Under-21 dismissals

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says he will speak to George Ray, Perry Ng and George Ray after they were sent-off for the club’s Under-21’s away at Huddersfield Town on Monday. The Alex eventually lost the game 3-2 with a controversial last-minute penalty award against us prompting a strong response from Ray and Ng, who were shown straight red cards for dissent.

Steve told crewealex.net: “I wasn't there for the Under-21 games, but I've asked for the DVD and it is important we speak to the players about it. It is very rare for us to have three players sent off in a season never mind in one game!

“This club has always prided itself on fair play and good behaviour so I am unhappy about it. I have to be able to trust them. I can't have that in the first team. We'll make sure, if there is some action or conversation needed with those lads, then we'll do it.”

Red cards at Under-21 level do not carry through to first-team matches.
