Vale Keep Going To The End

21 February 2014

Davis says his team will have to match Vale's team ethic

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis has praised the resilience of Micky Adams’s Port Vale side and says that they will be taken right to the final minute if we are to leave Vale Park with something for our efforts. Davis is an admirer of Adams’s ability to organise his teams and knows that they have a high work ethic that can make them relentless in pursuit of points.

They have already beaten Crewe 2-1 at Gresty Road back in November and the Crewe boss knows his side will have to match their team ethic if we are to get a result.

Ahead of this weekend’s fixture, Steve told crewealex.net: “Under Micky, Port Vale have always been resilient and their team ethic is very strong. They don’t know when they are beaten and they will keep going right to the end.

“That is why they have had a good first season back in League One and have got where they are. They are a good team and Micky has them well organised and drilled. They have hard to break down and we will have to match their work rate.

“I went to watch them against Bradford and they dealt with the pressure very well. They saw it through and I thought they were going to get a clean-sheet and a point but they were done in the final minute.

He added: “They withstand pressure well and when we get our chances we will have to take them.”
