Steve: "We Want To Be Positive"

Alex boss Steve Davis on the visit from Brentford

Boss Steve Davis says he will look to play positive football when League One leaders Brentford arrive at Gresty Road tomorrow afternoon. The Alex have bagged six goals in their last two games and Davis says he will look to continue this approach against the Bees.

But Davis is wary of the tough challenge awaiting the Railwaymen on Saturday afternoon. Brentford haven’t tasted a defeat in League One since mid-October a run that has seen them climb to the summit of League One.

Speaking ahead of the game, Steve told crewealex.net: “We want to be positive in the game and try and hurt the opposition when we have possession, which was the message that we tried to get across to the players yesterday.

“We are not a team that can sit back and soak up pressure and we have to be respectful of the opposition and their strengths. We have to admit that they are a better than we are because of where they are in the league table.

“They are flying at the moment and we respect that but we can’t be taken back by that. We can’t lie down in the game and be taken back by them. We have got to take the game to them when we can and play to our strengths.”
