Steve On Evans Loan Deal

4 February 2014

Boss on Manchester City youngster

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that young George Evans has been the perfect fit in his midfield after agreeing to extend his loan spell with us until the end of the season. The on-loan Manchester City starlet has regained his place in the starting XI after an untimely suspension and bout of illness over the New Year. He is currently partnering Anthony Grant in the central position with club captain Abdul Osman having to settle for a place on the substitutes’ bench in recent games.

Evans, 19, has agreed to remain at Gresty Road until the conclusion of the season and Davis has said that is only good news for us.

Steve told crewealex.net: “I am pleased that we have George with us until the end of the season. He knows the way we play now and what we are about. He has played 15 games and there is still more to come from him. We would like him to add some more goals to his game and control the tempo of matches better.

“He is a young lad and is very mature. His knowledge of the game is very good and he brings that quality of pass to our midfield that we have lacked since Luke (Murphy) left.

“George is a great lad and his attitude is first class. I can't fault his attitude or desire to improve in any way since he came here. He works hard every day and wants to become a better player. He is a young lad who thrives on playing football.

He added: “He is developing a good understanding with Granty and they continue to improve together.”
