Boss on how a good day turned into a devastating one
Steve Davis says the passing of our club photographer Pete Warburton following Saturday’s game cast a dark shadow on what had been an impressive performance from his team.
Sadly, Pete suffered a fatal heart attack just minutes’ after the final whistle and he passed away hours later in the University of North Staffordshire Hospital.
“The passing of Pete put a real downer on what had been a good day. It was devastating and our thoughts are with his wife and family at this difficult time, ‘said Steve.
“He has been with the club for ten years and was a great servant for the club. When these tragedies happen you always question things, especially when it is one of the good guys.
“I had a good relationship with him and he was a familiar face that I always saw at the games, both at home and away. I would always shake his hand on the pitch at the away games because he was always there early.
“I spoke to him after the game on Saturday and spoke about getting some of the pictures framed. He was very professional in his work and his photography was first class for us.
He added: “Pete was a good, all round guy and his passing has been devastating for everyone at the football club.”
