Park: “I Didn’t Hesitate To Come Here”

Loanee Cameron Park excited by Alex opportunity

Middlesbrough winger Cameron Park “can’t wait to get started” after joining Crewe Alexandra on a month’s loan.

The 21-year-old has featured regularly for Boro’s U21 side this season but is now looking forward to making the step-up with the Alex.

“It’s important for me to come and get games,” said Park.

“As soon as I heard Crewe were interested in me, I didn’t hesitate to come here straight away.

“I was in the gym last week at Middlesbrough and I was just told that Crewe had rang up and asked about me to come down for last Saturday. Unfortunately that didn’t happen because of a knock, so I’ve had to wait a few days and be a bit patient but I’m pleased that it’s all done and I can’t wait to get started.”

Signing his first professional deal at the age of 17, Park has featured sporadically at the Riverside but he’s now hoping that the Alexandra Stadium is the place where he can make his mark.

“I’ve played a few games for Boro, but this now is a real chance to show what I can do. Hopefully I’ll get a few games and I’ll be able to prove a point to everyone.

“I’ve looked at the last few results and Crewe haven’t done too bad. Hopefully we can recover after a bit of a setback on Tuesday and pick up on Saturday with a win.

“I’ve come here to play, but I can understand if I don’t go into the team because the lads have been playing well recently but once I get my chance it’s up to me to show why I deserve a place.”
