Inman Put A Shift In

Steve Davis on Inman V. Brayford battle

The battle between Brad Inman and our former full-back John Brayford was certainly an intriguing aspect of our 3-0 win over Sheffield United on Saturday. Despite only featuring in two League Cup appearances for Cardiff City, Brayford was at his energetic best against his former club and certainly asked questions of Inman’s defensive capabilities.

Boss Steve Davis was full of praise for Inman’s shift on the left-flank on Saturday and says that he has developed that side of his game since joining Crewe from Newcastle. After the 3-0 win over the Blades, Steve told the club’s official web-site: “I think we saw a different side of Brad’s game on Saturday. He had to do his defending and he equipped himself well against a very good player in John Brayford.

“Brad was very determined and did a good shift for the team. I felt it was fairly even in the first half with John pushing Brad back and vice versa. There wasn’t a lot of space and chances were fairly limited, but they changed it in the second half and used John as an attacking wing-back.

“John is always eager to get forward and that gave Brad more opportunity to get on the outside and exploit that. It was a great battle and Brad produced a really good performance for us.”
